See Your Data from a New Angle: 3D Visualisation Coming Soon to Azimap

Spatial data tells powerful stories, but sometimes the full picture can only be seen from a new perspective.

We’re excited to share that 3D visualisation tools are coming soon to Azimap, bringing a new dimension to the way you explore, analyse, and present spatial information.

With Azimap’s upcoming 3D capabilities, you’ll be able to move beyond traditional 2D maps and experience your data in an immersive environment. By combining your spatial datasets with terrain models and 3D building information, patterns, trends, and relationships become easier to identify and understand.

Whether you’re analysing landscapes, assessing infrastructure, or planning developments, Azimap’s 3D tools will help you visualise complex information with greater clarity.

Turning 2D Data into Powerful 3D Insights

Azimap will allow you to convert your existing spatial data into rich 3D visualisations with ease. By overlaying your datasets with terrain information, you can instantly reveal elevation differences, surface characteristics, and the spatial relationships that are often difficult to see in flat maps.

This new perspective makes it easier to support planning decisions, conduct environmental analysis, and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders.

Key 3D Capabilities

The new 3D environment in Azimap will include a wide range of analysis tools designed to help you explore and understand the world in greater detail.

Line of Sight Analysis

Quickly determine whether two locations can see each other by identifying terrain or structural obstacles between them. Adjust point height and position to find optimal placement for infrastructure such as cameras, communications equipment, or observation points.

Viewshed Analysis

Understand exactly what is visible from a specific location. Azimap highlights visible areas in green and non-visible areas in red, giving an immediate visual understanding of coverage.

Terrain Volume Measurement

Calculate the volume of material within any defined area. Simply draw a polygon, define depth and material, and Azimap will automatically measure the total volume.

3D Model Placement

Bring your own 3D models directly into the map environment. Azimap supports glTF formats and allows you to drag, drop, rotate, and position models to see how proposed structures interact with the surrounding landscape.

Sunlight Duration Analysis

Simulate the sun's path to determine how long areas receive direct sunlight. This analysis accounts for terrain and building shadows and can export results for further evaluation.

Building Extrusion

Transform 2D building footprints into realistic 3D structures using height attributes or rules. Instantly visualise building mass, volumes, and storey counts.

Slope Analysis

Identify slopes across any landscape using directional arrows and colour ramps. Results can be exported for further spatial analysis.

Elevation Profiles

Generate detailed terrain profiles along any selected route to examine gradients, height changes, and terrain roughness - supporting planning, engineering, and environmental assessments.

City Surface Profiling

Create instant height profiles across urban environments by combining terrain and 3D building data to reveal a city's full surface profile.

A New Dimension for Spatial Decision-Making

These upcoming tools will allow organisations to better understand terrain, infrastructure, and built environments through intuitive 3D exploration and analysis.

From planning and environmental assessment to infrastructure management and public communication, Azimap’s 3D visualisation capabilities will make it easier to turn spatial data into actionable insight.

Coming Soon

We’re currently putting the finishing touches on Azimap’s 3D environment and look forward to sharing it with you soon.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to launch.
